Presented by Laniyuk for this mob
A series of three workshops with local performance poet Laniyuk co-run with Alison Whittaker, Maddee Clark and DRMNGNOW’s Neil Morris. Designed specifically for mob to develop techniques in writing, publishing and performing poetry.
Day 1 with Alison will include conversations around why we write and the writing process. We’ll start with blank pages and create poetry, then receive constructive feedback to work on and bring back to the next session.
Day 2 with Maddee will look at the editing process and navigating the world of publishing. How to and where to submit. Writing and editing continues to develop your work and have a finished piece for the final workshop.
Day 3 with Neil will cover topics including maintaining energy while developing a career in the arts as an Indigenous person as well as how to keep ourselves emotionally, mentally and spiritually safe. Performance techniques will be workshopped so you’ll have a complete piece ready to share!
There will be an opportunity to perform poetry created in the workshops at an event in June. this mob is an arts collective run for and by emerging blak artists living and working in so-called Melbourne.
